The Inn at Mattei’s Tavern

The Inn at Mattei’s Tavern, a historic landmark dating back to 1886 as a stagecoach stop and later a secret gathering place during Prohibition, has been reimagined as a luxurious retreat in the Santa Ynez Valley. Our design approach blends modern farmhouse principles with careful preservation and enhancement of the site’s original historic structures. The Auberge property features 67 guest rooms and cottage-style accommodations, a poolside bar, cabanas, fire pits, a full-service spa, and flexible indoor-outdoor event spaces. The result is a thoughtful integration of architecture, history, and contemporary hospitality. This project was designed and completed under Ryan’s lead at DMHA. Team credits coming soon.
